This is a good pretty good place to come during the storm season when the waves get pushed all the way down the coast and build up to a decent height. If other places have been blown out, you will still find decent waves here although the rest of the time it can be a bit sloppy.
There is plenty of beach to go at here and there are actually three parts to it. The east end works best for small swells, the middle beach is best in bigger swells, and the Western end is inconsistent but can still have decent waves on a big swell.
You need to be here when the wind is blowing from the south-west, Southall south-east and the swell is coming in from the north or north-east. It works on all tide positions and the swell starts at less than 1 m and will hold up to about 2.5 m, maybe slightly more. It's a reef break, both right and left, and the waves are hollow and fast. The only thing the lets this place down slightly is that the length is short and even on a good day you won't get more than about 50 m out of it.
There is a car park right next to the central part of the beach, but the area is a wildlife reserve and there are no houses, shops or other facilities close by.
There are plenty of rocks around so just keep an eye out for them. The place is also a Marine Reserve and has plenty of interesting wildlife, including stingrays and sharks.
